Our Story

We are the owners of Wild & Waste Free, Allan and May Griffiths. We live in Narrogin, which is situated in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia. We are passionate about sustainable living and eating, and after reducing our waste from multiple 45L bins a week to less than one 1L bin at most, we decided to share our knowledge and passion with the world.

Allan is a handy man and loves to recycle timber and metal into useful items for our property. May loves to garden, cook and will be found purchasing in bulk to preserve what she has grown. This store is our platform of sharing the products with you that we love and use every day. We use everything we sell, and back it 100%.

Our journey of reduce, reuse, recycle began when we purchased our 10 acre property, and we had to take all of our rubbish to the tip. Necessity to reduce our miles got us thinking about what could be composted on site, or not brought onto the property in the first instance.

Here are some interesting facts and figures to help motivate you for change!

  • 10 million straws are used in Australia every day and take over 200 years to breakdown
  • 3 million takeaway coffee cups are used in Australia everyday and can NOT be recycled - as of March 1, 2024 WA has a ban in place for non-recyclable coffee cups.
  • Disposable nappies 475 years to break down – the nappies your children use will still be here when your great (x13) grandchild is born
  • Plastic bags can take up to 1000yrs to breakdown
  • In 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish

We strongly believe in small changes making a big impact – “small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world”. We hope you enjoy shopping our products, and please feel free to contact us here, we would love to hear from you.
