What to do with your scraps?

So you’ve collected your food scraps, what next? If you’re lucky enough to live in a council that collects organic food waste simply add your scraps to your green bin. You can also add your home compostable bin liner to your green bin too and it’ll break down!

If your council doesn’t collect food scraps, consider composting yourself at home. It’s super easy - we’ve got a guide on how to do this here: https://seedsprout.com.au/blogs/news/composting-basics

You can dispose of your food scraps by giving it away to someone who can use it! Check in with family and friends to see if they are composting and could take some scraps off your hands.

Community gardens will usually take food scraps too - just make sure you contact them before dropping them off. There are also a number of websites that connect you with locations close to your home where you can donate your scraps. Try Recycling Near You or Sharewaste.

You can also jump on your local community Facebook group and ask if anyone has any ideas!
